Global Media Monitoring Project 2010

This month the latest analysis from the Global Media Monitoring Project was released.

Who Makes The NewsThe Global Media Monitoring Project is the largest and longest longitudinal study on the representation of women in the world’s media.

Hundreds of trained volunteers around the world come together on one day to monitor the news on radio, television and in print.

Amongst many other important findings, the new report showed that just 24% of the people interviewed, heard, seen or read about in mainstream broadcast and print news were female.

Read the summary or full report here, or you can listen to Radio New Zealand’s media commentator Dennis Welch discuss the report on Nine to Noon.
