The Pay Equity Challenge Coalition is once again highlighting New Zealand’s gender pay gap and is supporting Minster of Women’s Affairs Pansy Wong to make good the promise she made last year to “leave no stone unturned in trying to close the pay gap.”
The Minister has been invited to lift the stones and we look forward to assisting her in any way we can tomorrow, Wednesday, at an event at Parliament.
“We’re going to place five large stones on Parliament grounds and underneath will be five solutions to the gender pay gap. We expect Pansy Wong will be thrilled that we have done the work for her and we look forward to our solutions being actioned,” said Pay Equity Challenge Coalition spokesperson Angela McLeod.
“It’s been a year since the Government closed the Pay and Employment Equity Unit but the Pay Equity Challenge Coalition has a long memory. We won’t let the Government forget their promise to try and close the Gender Pay gap.
“Come on National – how are you going to work with employers and unions across both public and private sectors to reduce the pay gap?”
